We owe our thanks to Jules Jaluzot, who created Le Printemps in 1865. This Department store, of the Boulevard Haussmann, commonly known as the "flagship", consists of two buildings connected by a footbridge. Its sales area is 47,459 m². - LES GALERIES LAFAYETTE, 35 bd Haussmann 75009
This is the most recently established Parisian Department store. Founded in 1893 by two cousins, Théophile Bader and Alphonse Kahn - more than 40 years after Le Bon Marché - the Galeries Lafayette bet on its "youth" to attract Parisian seeking the latest trends. From 1975, the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, with its 47,800 m² sales area, achieved the highest level of sales among the Department stores. - LES TROIS QUARTIERS, 23 bd de la Madeleine 75009
A few hundred metres away from the Opera and the four magnificent buildings of the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps Haussmann, located near the Église de la Madeleine, a shopping centre known as Trois Quartiers, bears the name of a Department store created in 1829 by Gallois-Gignoux. Only the conversion into a commercial gallery of 9,500 m², with 75 shops, at the end of the eighties, avoided the Trois Quartiers-Madelios from total disappearance, which was the fate of many great Parisian Department stores.
